Once the summer heat hits, nothing beats an ice cold, refreshing lemonade to quench the thirst. Have you tried making your own?
In this post, we give you 3 delicious and simple recipes with fresh fruit and herbs that you can easily prepare on a hot summer day.
Peach and thyme
- 2 pealed peaches and 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1,5 dl water for the pan and 7 dl water added to the pitcher in the end
- 2 dl lemon juice (from 4-6 big lemons)
- 1 dl sugar (or cane sugar)
- Ice cubes
Orange and basil
- 2 pealed oranges and a big handful of fresh basil leaves
- 1,5 dl water for the pan and 7 dl water added to the pitcher in the end
- 2 dl lemon juice (from 4-6 big lemons)
- 1 dl sugar (or cane sugar)
- Ice cubes
Strawberry and thyme/basil
- 2 handfuls of strawberries and 2 sprigs fresh thyme or a big handful of fresh basil leaves
- 1,5 dl water for the pan and 7 dl water added to the pitcher in the end
- 2 dl lemon juice (from 4-6 big lemons)
- 1 dl sugar (or cane sugar)
- Ice cubes
Here is how you do it
- Put herbs, water and sugar in a pan at high heat.
- Once it boils, take the pan off the heat.
- Strain the leaves and pour the herbal syrup into a pitcher.
- Let it steep for 30 minutes in the fridge.
- Meanwhile, blend the fruit until smooth and strain the juice free of seeds and solids.
- Mix the strained fruit juice in the pitcher with the cooled herbal syrup, add lemon juice and stir.
- Add 7 dl cold water, stir and taste with sugar.
- Serve the lemonade cool with a couple of ice cubes.
